IVF pricing is confusing on purpose — headline prices rarely include drugs, freezing or the extras a clinic will offer you. These answers break the numbers down so you know what you're committing to before you sign.
Am I eligible for NHS-funded IVF?
NHS IVF eligibility is decided locally, not nationally. Most areas require that neither partner already has a living child, that you have been trying to conceive for two years (or have a diagnosed cause), that the woman is under 40–42, and that both partners meet BMI and non-smoking criteria. Ask your GP for your integrated care board's exact policy — it is a published document.
How much does IVF cost in the UK?
Most UK clinics advertise £3,500–£5,000 for one IVF cycle, but the realistic all-in figure for a self-funded cycle is closer to £6,000–£8,000 once medication, blood tests, ICSI and embryo freezing are added. Budget for the extras from day one rather than discovering them in week three.
