Your clinic decides, not this guide

Protocols, drug doses, timings and the number of embryos to transfer are clinical decisions that depend on your history, your test results and your clinic's judgement. Nothing here should be used to change, delay or stop treatment. If something in the guide contradicts what your clinic has told you, your clinic is right about your case — ask them.

Urgent symptoms

Severe abdominal pain, rapid swelling, breathlessness, a fever, heavy bleeding or passing very little urine after egg collection need immediate clinical attention. Contact your clinic's out-of-hours number, or NHS 111, or attend A&E. Do not wait to look it up.

Currency of information

Figures, funding criteria and regulatory guidance change. Pages carry a last-updated date, and corrections are welcome at hello@simpleivfguide.com — but always confirm costs and eligibility with your clinic and your local NHS commissioner.
