A blood test measuring the level of human chorionic gonadotropin, used to confirm and monitor early pregnancy after embryo transfer.

It's the blood test your clinic does to tell you whether the transfer has worked, usually about two weeks after transfer.
Why it matters
A single result confirms pregnancy, and repeat tests a couple of days apart show whether the level is rising as expected.
