Antral follicle count (AFC)

The number of small resting follicles visible on an ultrasound scan of the ovaries, usually done early in the menstrual cycle.

It's a count of the small follicles your ovaries have ready to grow, seen on a scan.
Why it matters
Along with AMH, it helps your clinic estimate how you might respond to stimulation drugs and choose a starting dose.
