Intralipid infusion
An intravenous fat emulsion infusion sometimes offered around embryo transfer, proposed as a way to modify immune activity in the womb.
In plain English
It's a fluid drip made from soybean oil and egg yolk phospholipids, given around transfer with the idea that it calms an overactive immune response.
Why it matters
The HFEA rates this as an add-on with no evidence it improves live birth rates for most patients, and it's not part of routine NHS-funded IVF care.
